The Rat Race Ale House first opened its doors on the platform of Hartlepool Railway Station in November 2009, targeting an audience of both real ale enthusiasts and commuters caught up in the rat race. As the first micro pub on Teesside, the Rat Race has become one of the favourites on Teesside's Real Ale trail, and was named CAMRA's north east pub of the year in 2013. Since opening, the Rat Race has offered over 1000 beers from over 350 different breweries.
